About

Mary Waelder is a licensed architect who spends her days breathing new life into old buildings with SHKS Architects. Her interest in disasters is in part inspired by Rebecca Solnit's A Paradise Built In Hell, which showcases community-driven responses to intense challenges.

Displayed at the Center for Architecture & Design

The Center is a shared home and place of collaboration for AIA Seattle, Design in Public, Seattle Architecture Foundation, and AIA Washington Council, as well as a place for our partner organizations to convene events and conversations relevant to design and our city.

While The Center is closed to the public due to COIVD-19 restrictions we are exhibiting a window display for the When Seattle Shakes exhibit.

The Seattle Architecture Foundation connects people to the architecture, design, and history of Seattle. The more you engage with design, the more you feel connected to your changing city. As a volunteer driven organization, we provide programs which will empower you to make a difference in your community.
